Stomach of riches

NEW DELHI, INDIA - Indian surgeons opened
up the stomach of a patient complaining of
abdominal pain and extracted a fortune.

Doctors say the 63-year-old was hiding 12 gold
bars in his belly.

He's accused of smuggling them into India to evade
an import tax.

Each bar weighs about 33 grams.

According to online gold estimates, together
they're worth about $16,000.

The bars have been sent to customs for
investigation.

The patient was discharged after the surgery and is
reportedly doing fine.
