The streets are talking but Tracy Morgan is not losing his leg. In the wake of Saturday's deadly multi-car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike, the comedian's
rep, Lewis Kay, released a statement regarding his client's condition.
Although the "30 Rock" alum's leg was horribly broken in the accident, Kay said "rumors about amputating his leg are completely fabricated."
"Tracy remains in critical but stable condition," the publicist shared. "His fiancée Megan is by
his side. The concern for his well-being has been overwhelming, but Megan is respectfully asking that the media await official word through these channels before speculating (mostly inaccurately) on his condition.
As we shared yesterday, Tracy had surgery on his broken leg.
We are working closely with the incredible staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital to
share information when it is available." Kay added, "This recovery will be arduous and
we hope that you can be patient during this difficult time."
As we reported earlier, the six-car pileup killed Tracy's longtime friend and writing partner James "Jimmy Mack" McNair, and injured four others.
Prosecutors charged 35-year-old truck driver Kevin Roper with death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. Police told ABC News that Roper was dozing off moments before the chain-reaction collision.
He turned himself in Saturday night and bail was set at $50,000.
