You know the old adage, "all press is good press"? That's definitely not the case when you've reached Jay-Z/Beyonce levels of fame, standing at the top of the mountain with nowhere to go but down.
And no matter how you look at it, SolangeGate 2014 was bad for Team Carter.
Every meme that spawned from it was a shot at the power couple's credibility, chinks in armor that has for years been
impenetrable.
Of course Jay-Z and Solange Knowles were going to publicly kiss and make up.
And of course they were going to go through the Associated Press to break the news .
"As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the
unfortunate incident.
But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it," an exclusive statement to The Associated Press said Thursday.
"Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred.
They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public.
They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."
It was a fun week, wasn't it? As surprising as the actual event was, the white-washed ending is
expected.
Time to call a spade a spade – unless Solange decides to write a tell-all book in her laterbyears, we will never know what, exactly, triggered the fight.
All of those theories that we've had a blast deconstructing will forever remain untestedvand unfounded.
Maybe it's better that way. Even if the fight really was nothing more than a drunken in-law spat, it's a lot more fun to assume something more devious
took place.
Which the Internet probably will, from here until eternity.
People don't forget!
