*LATE POST
Oprah did not hold back when asked about racist
LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling on Tuesday's
"CBS This Morning."
The media queen was on to discuss her new line of
teas, but she weighed in on the firestorm
surrounding Sterling, who is alleged to have told
his girlfriend not to be seen with black people and
who has a history of racial controversy.
She was
quite frank in response.
"It feels like a plantation mentality in the 21st
century, in 2014," she said.
"It just doesn't fit. And
I'm waiting to see what they do. Something has to
be done...that needs to happen, like, now."
When she left "CBS This Morning," Oprah was met
by TMZ cameras, where she continued her theme. "We're all off the plantation," she said. "The
plantation days are over." "Plantation mentality" is also the phrase used about
Sterling by former Clippers general manager Elgin
Baylor in a 2010 lawsuit.
The NBA is scheduled to announce what it intends
to do with Sterling later on Tuesday.
