Borno, Nigeria - Two leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC,
in Borno State, Alhaji Modu Janga and Alhaji Abba
were on Monday gunned down around Mafa Local 
Government Area by gunmen suspected to be
 members of the Boko Haram sect. 
The two APC officials, were said to have come to
 Maidugur to sort out differences amongst 
supporters of the APC in the state, with regards to
 harmonizing their wards congress, and uniting 
factions within the party. 
It was learnt that the two officials were returning to 
Gudumbali from Maiduguri, when the gunmen 
attacked their vehicle. 
A source told DailyPost that "the insurgents 
blocked the road with wood and tree branches;
they identified occupants of the vehicle and shot 
dead two persons on the spot, and fled towards 
Dikwa, a border town with Cameroon". 
According to him, the gunmen did not rob the party 
officials, as their vehicle was abandoned at the 
scene of the incident, adding that the road was also 
closed for two hours by soldiers and policemen to 
prevent further attacks.
