INDIANAPOLIS - Police are hunting for a racing-
style car and its passengers after a report of shots
fired came in and a man was found dead in an alley
early Wednesday morning on the city's northwest
side.
Indianapolis police (IMPD) homicide detectives told
RTV6 they got an anonymous call of shots fired at
roughly 12:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of 34th Street.
When officers arrived, they searched the area and
found a man's body in an alley just south of 34th,
between Radar and Clifton streets .
Detectives said the man was bound when officers
discovered his body; poorly bound, but bound just
the same.
Investigators said they weren't
immediately sure he had been shot and were
awaiting forensic/coroner's details to confirm a
gun-related death.
That autopsy should be completed later Wednesday, IMPD said. We noticed Marion County Deputy Prosecutor
Denise Robinson was on the scene of the homicide
investigation.
That's rarely the case with homicides
overnight, RTV6's Anne Kelly said. The caller who reported the shooting said they
thought the shots were fired from a compact
 orange/yellow car with a loud exhaust system - a
racing car that you might see in the "Fast and
 Furious" movies.
Police confirmed they are
searching for this "street racer" type vehicle. Police haven't released details yet on the victim.
They are waiting to let family members know about
the death before identifying the man.
If you or anyone you know may have information on this crime, you're urged to report it to police at 317-327-3811 or report information anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477 (TIPS). Tips may also be texted with "INDYCS" to 274637.
