Jason DeRulo may intend to marry girlfriend of two
years, Jordin Sparks — and made it clear in his
single, "Marry Me" — but it doesn't mean he's ready
to pop the question anytime soon.
In fact, the singer says, the song was originally
intended to be for Jordin only. But after Jordin
encouraged Jason to put it on his third album, the public has heard his message… and the pressure is
officially on for him to come up with a diamond ring
and a grand proposal.
"I was just trying to explain that we have forever,
so what's the rush," Jason tells MTV.
But considering the fact that Jason and Jordin are
obviously serious — at least, according to the crazy amount of roses he sent her on Valentine's day? — an engagement has to be on the way, right?
Most
people would think so, but Jason says not
necessarily. "There is a lot of pressure, and there was a lot of
pressure before the song," Jason says.
"I wrote the
song because of the pressure and then I made the
pressure worse because people just listen to the
chorus and all they hear is 'Will you marry me?' so
they're like 'Oh you're proposing.' I'm like, 'No.'" So what is Jason saying? "In the song I'm saying,
when the time is right," the "Talk Dirty" singer
 explains.
"I'm saying we have the rest of our lives.
So the perfect time is on its way." When the right time comes, Jason and Jordin will
know it — and it won't be because Jason's fans
decided they should get married.
Whenever it
happens, it happens… and the floral arrangements
at the weddings better be spectacular.
