hospital in serious condition Saturday after a multi-
car crash on the east side.
Just after 2 p.m., Indianapolis dispatchers were
alerted of a crash involving six vehicles at the
intersection of 21st Street and Post Road.
According to their initial investigation, police said
they believe the accident was precipitated by the
driver of a gold-colored Cadillac, who was traveling
more than 90 miles per hour and was allegedly
driving under the influence of marijuana.
said IMPD Officer Christopher Wilburn."When he got to the hospital, an alert officer, along
with medical staff, could smell marijuana on him,"
"At that point
they found a substantial amount of narcotics on
him."
Police said they believe the Cadillac was eastboundon 21st Street when it struck a Chevy Traverse,
causing the Cadillac to hit the median before going
airborne.
The Cadillac then bounced three times
through the intersection before colliding with a
Ford F250, resulting in several other reaction impacts.
Police said six people were taken to the hospital in
serious but stable condition. The driver of the
Cadillac, identified as Ali Maulana of Indianapolis,
was transported in critical condition, according to
police.
"Everybody was running to help them. Customers
in the parking lot ran to help," said witness Andrea
Hawkins. "There were probably 50 of us calling
911 at the same time."
